Accessibility

Using this website.

This website is designed with accessibility in mind, using WCAG 2.2 AA as the design target. It supports keyboard navigation, text resizing and higher-contrast reading, with HTML document editions and film transcripts where available.

What this statement covers.

This statement covers the 22 active HTML pages in this portfolio, including the stories, multimedia collection, photograph viewer, experience map, CV and portfolio text editions, style guide and local transcript pages. The interface and all content on those pages are included.

Films open on YouTube and source links open other websites. Those external destination pages are outside this assessment; no external video players are embedded in the portfolio. Downloadable PDFs are assessed separately. The complete CV and portfolio are also available as HTML text editions.

What has been checked.

Automated testing on 31 October 2026 found no violations across 22 HTML pages at desktop and narrow-screen widths. Layout checks also covered increased text spacing and 200% text sizing. Keyboard checks covered the photograph viewer, collection filters, map markers and the place selector.

A full WCAG 2.2 Level A conformance claim for these HTML pages is awaiting the remaining manual checks: screen-reader reading order and control information, a complete keyboard walkthrough, and the quality of image descriptions and link labels. Automated results alone do not establish conformance.

Reading and navigation.

You can use the skip link to reach the main content, resize text in your browser, and use the keyboard to navigate. Photographs open in a dialog with labelled controls; Escape closes it. The experience map also has a “Choose a place” menu, including the railway journey.

Documents and films.

Structured text PDFs are available alongside the original designed documents. Their PDF structure and language metadata have been checked; PDF accessibility verification is separate from the HTML assessment.

Where an English caption track could be retrieved, a transcript link appears beside the film. Automatically generated transcripts are labelled. Transcript accuracy and accessibility of externally hosted films are separate ongoing checks and are not presented as verified.

Ask for another format.

If you find a barrier or need material in another format, email jonny.perfect@gmail.com. Please include the page or film title and what would help you use it.
