Security begins…
For Security begins…, the aim was to explain the organisation in simple messages to people who did not already know it. Animation made sense because it could be translated without rebuilding the whole film.
I worked on the script, refined the animation proposal, selected and negotiated with the production partner and oversaw the English audio recording. My job was to keep the production moving through its cycles, with the partner doing the animation.
A new corporate film
For What is the OSCE? in 2017, I wrote the script and obtained clearances across the organisation, working closely with executive management. I managed the budget and procurement process, then directed feedback to the company animating and editing the film.
Those projects involved a different kind of craft from filming something myself: knowing what to ask for, making the script clear and helping the people producing it reach the right result.
Interviews and studio production
I also created a small interview studio at the conference centre, installing a backdrop and three-point lighting. It meant we could film invited experts quickly, alongside work with senior officials and remote media interviews.
The climate and security interview and the Secretary General’s year-in-review film below show this hands-on production work alongside the commissioned animations.
Reach across languages
The two explainers reached 626,970 YouTube views across 18 language-version uploads: 416,651 for What is the OSCE? and 210,319 for Security begins…, as checked on 30 October 2026.
These figures cover the official OSCE YouTube uploads. Shorter edits were also used on social media.
